Dr.
Ayman M. Ghanem has more than 20 years of professional experience with
national and international organizations in the fields of solid waste
management, programs management, environmental protection, training of
trainers (TOT) and community development. Dr. Ghanem gained his practical
experience in solid waste management and community development through
working as an adviser for different environmental and developmental projects
such as• Cairo North: Poverty alleviation and Environment Enhancement
implemented by Cooperazione Lo Sviluppo Deipaesi Emergenti (COSPE), Ama Arab
Environment Company (AAEC) and Association for the Protection of the
Environment (APE), funded by Italian Cooperation – COSPE.• Public Awareness
Campaign for Environmental Development implemented by the National Council
for Childhood and Motherhood (MCCN), Association for the Protection of the
Environment (APE) and Ama Arab Environment Company (AAEC), funded by Italian
Cooperation. • Baseline field study of the current situation of solid waste
management system in Masara South Cairo, funded by the Egyptian
Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA).• Regional Solid Waste Management
Project in Mashreq and Maghreb-Strategic Framework for the Solid Waste
Management in Egypt funded by the Center for Environment and Development for
the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE).• Baseline Field & Feasibility Study of
Solid Waste Management Generation and Disposal in West District, Minia City
– Infonex Corp. funded by Egyptian Swiss Fund for Development. • Marsa Allam
Solid Waste Management Project implemented by Hurghada Environmental
Protection and Conservation Association (HEPCA) and Association for the
Protection of the Environment (APE), funded by USAID. • Reduction of Lead
Pollution Hazards for the population of Shoubra El Kheima implemented in
five schools in Shoubra El Kheima district by the Women’s National Council,
Association for the Protection of the Environment (APE) and Qaluobiya
Governorate.• Environment and Natural Resources Program – one of the
USAID-funded activities for supporting Egyptian NGOs and building their
capacities in the field of privatized solid waste management systems• The
Sustainable Comprehensive Programs for upgrading the “Zabaleen” community of
Tora,- Cairo in different aspects of life (health, environment, economic,
social education) implemented by the Association for the Protection of the
Environment (APE).• The Developed Center for Collection, Sorting and
Recycling of Garbage in Kattamia desert Cairo- Egypt implemented by
Association for the Protection of the Environment (APE).• Designing and
supervising the establishment of a number of major transfer and recycling
stations in five Egyptian governorates, in addition to setting up the
operations in those stations, training their staff and providing technical
assistance to their managing bodies (municipalities and local NGOs) after
their final handover.• Garbage Separation at the Source Project funded by
the Ford Foundation.
Dr. Ghanem has 18 scientific publications and technical reports in Municipal
Waste Management Systems, Environmental and Health Conditions of Families in
the Mokattam Zabaleen settlement in Cairo, Compost Marketing in Dakahlia
Governorate, TOT on Networking and Communication skills and others. Dr.
Ghanem has participated in different national and international conferences
in the fields of Solid Waste Management, Recycling, Environment Protection,
Territorial Development, Best Practices in the Development of Human
Settlements, Population and Development, Municipal Waste Management, NGOs
and the development of civil society in the Arab world … as a speaker or
participant.
